Setup Directory/File Based Replication
Setting up Cartridge/File Based Replication for VTL partition data and NAS share data is similar. However, for this topic, we'll discuss NAS shares.
Once configured, Directory/File Based Replication automatically replicates NAS share files without user intervention or a schedule. After a Directory/File Based Replication, the files are automatically recovered on the target system and available for use.
However, you need to manually run Synchronize from the DXi GUI in order to remove replicated data on the target that is no longer present on the source. Otherwise, your target system will continue to maintain data that is no longer present on the source. The Synchronize process replaces all files on the target system with the most up-to-date data on the source system.
Scenario: In this scenario, watch Dave Mason, who plays the role of Backup Administrator, demonstrate these steps for setting up directory/file-based replication for NAS shares.
- On the Target system, create a new NAS share with the EXACT name as the NAS share on the Source system.
- On the Target system, set Sync ID for the NAS share.
- On the Source system, edit the NAS share that is enabled for replication and enter the Sync ID previously configured on the Target system.
